A public representative (minister) goes underground

Ram Awatar Yadav

Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter killing case is continuously in media from last few days after the charge sheet was filed by the CBI naming Gujarat home minister Amit Shah (who recently resigned after the CBI did so). The case of killing was not what sought my attention and surprised me as the involvement of politicians in criminal activities was not for the first time in our country. What stunned me was that a minister (who is a public representative) going underground to escape from the judiciary.

Interestingly, Mr. Shah was underground for around 3-4 days after the charge sheet was filed against him. The hunt was on for him during these 3-4 days but he could not be traced. God knows what clicked in his mind that he himself, finally appeared before the CBI. What kind of message will a home minister give to his citizens who himself do not have the gutsy to face the judiciary? Later when he appeared before the CBI, he said (while interacting with the media persons) that the accusations made against him were fabricated and politically motivated. I think I don’t need to mention here (as this question certainly would have clicked every mind) that why he was underground if so was the case. I won’t go deep into the matter because I think that you would certainly have studied more on the issue than I did, to be frank (because the case didn’t interest me that much as it was a common practice by our politicians or so called public representatives).

The one more thing that I would like to discuss about is the interference of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi in the issue. I fail to understand that if Mr. Shah was not involved in Sohrabuddin’s fake encounter killing case then what prevented him to prove the same before the CBI and the judiciary? Mr. Modi on the top of that was commenting in the same fashion as Mr. Shah did instead of proving themselves innocent in the case. I think it was entirely on the court to decide if the minister was not involved in the case. Mr. Modi being the CM of the state should, instead, have supported and shown faith in the CBI and the judiciary to solve the case quickly by cooperating with them. This way, he could have sent a positive message to the nation that he totally failed to do, and rather, put himself in trouble. They themselves, made it pretty clear for the people to interpret if Mr. Shah was involved in the case.

Ram is always critical about every issue discussed in media galore. As in this article, maximum minds are  pondering over the involvement of Shah in the staged encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh along with others, he questioned Shah's approach to tackle the case as a mass representative.

  2. politicians are never concerned about sending a positive message and Mr Modi was never ever interested in nation's interest. Mr Shah has proved this again. It shows his personality irrespective of the fact behind the case !!!

  3. I don't know how dark the world is........ "Chirag tale andhera" is the proverb I remember whenever I read any negative issues related to our so called leaders.....I really feel pitty for our nation that "aisa kab tak chalega"....The system is getting so hollow from inside that the sound comes with almost every mistake but actions are always unheard.......
